Let’s do an exercise.
It is powerful to write, draw, and recreate the story of your life.
One way to do this is to create an Art Journal and today is the perfect opportunity to start connecting with your inner artist and awakening your creative gifts.
You are the artist of your life!
I suggest a MIXED MEDIA notebook and to start your creative journey begin by customizing the cover.
Gather some supplies like markers, acrylic paints, pictures, magazine clippings, stickers, scissors, glue, and anything else you want to add.
When you’re ready, create a background on the cover with the magazine clippings and images you’ve selected, and from there continue adding all the embellishments.
WOW! You have created your first visual art journal!
Art journaling is the perfect space to express your emotions, your feelings, to relax or simply to have fun and be inspired.
Fill in the pages with thoughts, quotes, free writing, or just doodles. Everything you are experiencing right now is welcome. Your hopes and your dreams, as well as your fears and your sorrows.
This Art Journal is yours alone and everything in it represents you.
Now, I invite you to open it to the first page and write the following question:
What do I need to express today on this page?
Remember you already have the supplies you need, so go on a creative ride and be open to endless possibilities. See where this journey takes you. Trust the process.
Welcome to Expressive Arts

How can the Expressive Arts guide me on this Journey?
Congratulations! You have reached a point in your life where you are ready to make a change and live the life of your dreams. It may feel difficult right now, but this is the first step towards your new future.
You may have questions and doubts, but that’s okay. It means you’re thinking about things and reflecting on where you want to go in life. Allow yourself grace in this process.
The fact that you are seeking answers means that you are already on the right track towards personal growth and healing. You have the power within you to overcome any obstacle and become who you truly want to be.
Keep going, and don’t give up. Your future is bright, and the answers you are seeking are already inside you. You’ve got this!
Invite yourself not to be afraid, to ignite the creativity that you have within you and create your own space for yourself and connect with the energy of your heart and soul.
One of the benefits of inviting yourself to be in this transformative place of creativity is that you have the freedom and security to be able to heal and oftentimes bring up old hurts or old memories in your life that you haven’t really dealt with before.
You have everything you need to create a healing practice for yourself. Your body knows exactly what to do once you release the tension and are fully present with yourself.
My journey with The Expressive Arts
I’ve been creative all my life one way or another but never saw creativity as a therapeutic process until I dove into my own personal journey.
The day I walked into the Art studio in San Diego, CA is the day my recovery process began without recognizing it.
I had no idea it was my own journey the one to give me all the highlights, insights, and healing I needed at the time through a variety of creative processes.
Through arts projects including visual arts, dance, writing, music along with spiritual practices and guided imagery, expressive arts gave me the tools I needed in my life to manifest my wings.
I walked into the studio as a caterpillar, I then moved into the chrysalis and stayed in that dark, sticky, uncomfortable, painful place for months and ultimately emerged as a butterfly.
I trusted the process, I stepped into my freedom to express, I reclaimed the artist and the healer in me.
The expressive arts have allowed me to meet who I truly am. I have met with the gorgeous, vibrant, full of life, sexy self and I have also come across the ugly, the hurt, and the shadow to heal.
I’ve had long conversations with myself through my art. I’ve hugged the fragile little girl, I’ve listened to the rebellious teen, I have also attended to the defiant lover, and I have embraced the mother.
My stories of healing, transformation, and purpose has led me to who I am today, learning to live my best authentic self.
You are excited to EXPLORE more about yourself as you take your second step on your blumariposa journey!
All you need to do is show up. You are already the artist of your life.
